The McElhanney M-POWER Scholarship Program is intended to empower, support, and recognize young professionals of all backgrounds in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Our mission is to identify talented individuals passionate about joining a workplace with a team of problem solvers, collaborators, creative thinkers, and community leaders.

The McElhanney Scholarship Program recognizes students and professionals in eight different categories which align with our purpose, core values, and corporate strategic plan.

Our scholarship recipients are also awarded a co-op or internship experience, which provides you with the opportunity to discover where you want to take your career through hands-on experience in the field and / or office. We connect you with industry-leading mentors and a cohort of top-tier students from across Canada. We’ll help you reach your goals by providing you with the skills and training you need to solve real world problems.

McElhanney Indigenous Peoples Scholarship

Bradley Box

As an Ojibwe belonging to the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, Bradley’s aspiration to improve local housing while working with Tipi Moza (Iron Homes) reflects his commitment to community improvement.

Dakota St. Savard

Dakota’s work with the Enoch Cree Nation Reserve and dedication to helping unhoused Indigenous individuals reconnect with their heritage reflect his deep desire to give back to his community.

Aidan Mckibben

As a Métis, Aiden’s aspiration to learn more about Indigenous communities in Montreal, QC, and his motivation to understand Indigenous history demonstrates his deep commitment to community acknowledgment.

Gavin Caillier

Gavin’s drive to enhance infrastructure in remote areas demonstrates his commitment to community improvement. This scholarship symbolizes an investment in Gavin’s potential and a recognition of his dedication to making positive impacts in remote, Indigenous communities.

Aur Hager

Aur has an exceptional leadership journey, which includes initiating a peer mentorship program and actively shaping youth initiatives. This involves serving as a mentor and participating in initiatives such as the StrongerBC Young Leaders Council.

McElhanney Women in Engineering Scholarship

Gabriella Effah-Wiaf

Gabriella’s unwavering commitment to advancing women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), especially through her role with McMaster’s National Society of Black Engineers, is truly commendable.

Georgia Rea

Georgia actively participates in various social initiatives such as Girls and STEAM, Canadian Construction Women, and Women in Consulting Engineering, using her passion and energy to uplift women and youth in the field.

Tahmid Al Hafiz

Tahmid’s dedication to equity and inclusion are evident through his transformative initiatives, including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors and Co-President of the Engineering Students’ Society at the University of Alberta.

Nyapal Duop

Nyapal’s journey from a Kakuma refugee camp to pursuing civil engineering at the University of Saskatchewan is truly inspiring. Her passion for engineering, commitment to gender equity, and dedication made her an outstanding candidate.
