McElhanney Honoured with Three Engineering Awards

ACEC-BC 2019 McElhanney awards

A McElhanney young professional and two projects received honours at the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-British Columbia 2019 Awards for Engineering Excellence gala on April 6th in Vancouver.

Congratulations to David Ellis for receiving the 2019 Young Professional (YP) of the Year award, recognizing an individual in the first ten years of their career who has contributed to the consulting engineering industry and shown leadership and excellence in consulting business practices. David is a bridge engineer based in our Victoria office and throughout his career has been actively involved in many engineering-related community activities including those of ACEC-BC, ACEC, EGBC, IABSE, and BC MOTI. David is McElhanney’s fourth ACEC-BC YP of the Year since 2009.

Two projects also received accolades:

The Langley Dual Use Detention Centre / Sports Field project won the Award of Excellence in the Municipal & Civil Infrastructure category out of seven entries from leading consultants. Read about this massive underground stormwater storage facility, completed in 2018, in our website portfolio.

The Fort Nelson River Bridge Replacement project won the Award of Merit in Transportation & Bridges category out of 11 entries from leading consultants.  Read about this upgrade, completed in 2018, in which the superstructure was slid laterally onto temporary piers to maintain traffic flow during construction in our website portfolio.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners!
