A McElhanney engineering survey project was a finalist in the 2018 David Thompson National Geomatics Awards.
Vancouver Survey Branch Manager Rob Riecken, as the project’s commissioned land surveyor, was named a runner-up in the non-cadastral category for the “Engineering Survey of the Vancouver Public Library, Central Branch” project. He received the award during the National Surveyors’ Conference in Victoria, BC on March 27, 2018.
The project involved surveying and scanning services for the Vancouver library renovations, particularly identifying a precise location for a temporary concrete platform to support a multi-storey crane, as well as precise positions for temporary beams to support the load of the crane and platform at the parkade level below the crane base.
The David Thompson National Geomatics Awards Program is open to all commissioned land surveyors who are members of a Canadian surveying association, submitting projects that have been completed within the last three years.
