McElhanney’s Jarrett Zilinski Receives the 2025 CEA Harold L. Morrison Rising Young Professional Award

Published: April 7th, 2025

We are excited to congratulate Jarrett Zilinski, Project Engineer, on being honoured with the Harold L. Morrison Rising Young Professional Award at last week’s Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) Showcase Awards Gala!

This award recognizes emerging professionals who demonstrate excellence in their field of expertise, the business of consulting engineering, and dedication to their community.

Since joining McElhanney in 2016, Jarrett has built a career defined by technical acumen, leadership, and advocacy. Specializing in transportation and traffic, Jarrett has played a key role in dozens of complex municipal transportation master plans, functional planning and concept studies, and traffic and safety initiatives. Through his expertise, Jarrett has helped municipalities across Alberta make informed infrastructure decisions that enhance safety, improve mobility, and shape thriving communities for generations to come.

Beyond his technical contributions, Jarrett has made a lasting impact by contributing to a welcoming and inclusive workplace – truly embodying McElhanney’s core values of caring for each other and respect for all. He was instrumental in introducing our firm’s Be More Than a Bystander training, enrolling in the program and later leading its company-wide rollout. His commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) also shines through his active role with the Women at McElhanney Committee, where he has been a dedicated ally and advocate.

Jarrett’s leadership extends beyond McElhanney to the broader engineering community as well. As Chair of the CEA Young Professionals Edmonton Committee, he has played a key role in revitalizing engagement post-pandemic, organizing professional development events, and strengthening the young professional network within Alberta’s consulting engineering industry.

“This recognition highlights Jarrett’s dedication not only to his projects but also to building meaningful, lasting relationships within our team and the broader engineering community,” said Matt Forsyth, Vice President, Prairies North at McElhanney. “His leadership and commitment to creating an inclusive environment are as impactful as his technical contributions. This award is a testament to his growth – both professionally and personally – and we’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved achievement.”

When asked about this award win and what it means to him, Jarrett replied, “I am honoured just to have been nominated for this award. There are so many amazing consulting professionals at McElhanney and throughout the industry who I have learned from and have inspired me. I’m very thankful to have had such a supportive, driven group around me.”

Congratulations, Jarrett, on this well-deserved recognition! We can’t wait to see where your career takes you next.
